Royal Antwerp is a football club from Antwerp, Belgium. It is considered the oldest team in the country, being founded in 1880 as the Antwerp Athletic Club by English students living in the city. The team plays at the Bosuilstadion.

The club has won the current Belgian First Division A four times. He is a two-time winner of the Belgian Cup. The greatest achievement in European club tournaments was reaching the UEFA Cup final in 1992/93.

In 1990, most of the players left the club because of the new team next door, Bergschot WAC. This was the beginning of a long rivalry between the two clubs.

It has a long-term partnership with the English team Manchester United, hiring his youngsters so that their development can be supported by participating in high-level meetings, and young players who need European work permits can benefit from not so strict laws of Belgium.

Although one of the most supported teams in the country, Antwerp has not reached its full potential in the last few years. No league titles since 1957 and has spent several seasons in the Second Division. It was promoted to the First Division in 2000, only to return to the second level in Belgian football in 2004. It returned to the elite 13 years later, in 2017.

The best players of Antwerp and Rotterdam played a football match between 1909 and 1959 for the Meuse- and Scheldt Cup.

As the club was the oldest active club at the time of the founding of the Belgian Football Association, it was the first team registered with it in 1895.
