K.A.A. Gent is a professional football team from Ghent. It was founded in 1900 and is nicknamed the "The Buffalos". They currently play their home games at Ghelamco Arena and their home kit is in blue and white colors. The club is one of the founders of the Belgian Football Federation.

Gent has won the national championship once. Also won the Belgian Cup 3 times and the Belgian Super Cup once. The biggest success in European club tournaments was the round of 16 of the Champions League in 2015/16. Other achievements - the final of the Intertoto in 2006 and once again in 2007.

In the first few years after the founding of the Belgian Football Federation, the team played mainly in the Second Division and later in the First Division. During its existence it has moved several times to different cities. It adopted its current name in 1971.

The 1970/71 season marked the beginning of a weak decade for Gent, with the club being relegated to the Second Division and, later, even to the Third Division. After two seasons he returned to the Second Division, where he remained until 1980, when he returned to the First Division.

For a long time, Ghent did not have a Belgian championship. However, when Ivan de Witte came to the post of president, the club established competent management and began to set high goals for itself. 

In the 2014/15 season, in the final of the playoffs of the local championship, Ghent defeated Standard 2:0, and became the champion of Belgium for the first time in its 115-year history. 

125 thousand fans took to the streets of Ghent, celebrating the championship of their favorite club. It was the largest fan action in the history of Belgian football.

The best scorer of Gent in history is Roman Yaremchuk, which is good news for Ukrainian football fans. The 25-year-old forward played 153 matches for the cube, in which he scored 61 goals. This is the best indicator in the history of the team. During the performances for Ghent, his Transfermarkt price increased from 2 million to 13 million. It was with the Buffaloes that Roman grew up to become the main striker of the Ukrainian national team. Most likely, the Ukrainian will leave the team in the next offseason. He wants to try his hand at a more top-tier championship. Ghent should not oppose the transfer, because Yaremchuk gave the club everything he could, firmly inscribing his name in the history of Ghent.
