PSV Eindhoven is a Dutch professional sports club from the city of Eindhoven. The most famous section of the club is the football team, which is a member of the highest echelon in Dutch football - Eredivisie. It was founded in 1913 and plays at Philips Stadium. The nicknames of the club are the "peasants", the "red and whites" and the "Lightbulbs". It is among the three teams from the Netherlands that have ever won the Champions League trophy. Won the European Cup (the tournament preceding the Champions League) in 1988, as well as the UEFA Cup (1978).

The club is in the second place with the most titles won in Eredivisie (24) - after Ajax with their 33 titles. A nine times winner of the Dutch Cup (KNVB Cup) and an twelve times winner of the Dutch Super Cup (Johan Cruyff Shield).

At the beginning the team was sponsored by Philips, and was a sports club for employees of the same company. Its founding is in honor of the centenary of the victory over the French and Napoleon in the war.

Many famous names on the world football scene have played for PSV Eindhoven - Ronaldo, Ruud Gullit, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Mark van Bomel, Arjen Robben, Johann Vogel, etc.

The team's biggest rivalry is with Ajax, with both teams often competing for the league title in the last 30 years.

Willy van der Kuijlen has the most games played for PSV Eindhoven in the league and the most goals scored in the league, respectively, 528 games and 308 goals between 1964 and 1981. The team's record for most goals in one season belongs to Dylen, who scored 43 goals in the 1956/57 season - this is also a national record. Two different PSV goalkeepers hold the club's record (and national record) for the longest clean sheet - 1159 minutes - and those are Heurelho da Silva Gomes and Edwin Zoetebier.
