Cercle Brugge Koninklijke Sportvereniging (or just Cercle Brugge) is a Belgian professional football team from Bruges. It was founded in 1899. The club plays their home games at the Jan Breydel Stadium, with a capacity of 29,042. The team has twice won the Belgian Cup and three times became the country's champion.

Cercle Brugge began its existence as a sports organization with sections for football, cricket, tennis, running and cycling. It became a member of the Belgian Football Association in 1990. Won their first title in the 1910/11 season, when they have won the national title.

During the First World War, football matches were suspended, but Cercle returned to competitive football in 1919, when they finished third in the league. From 1924 till 1930 the club has won two national titles.

But this successful period was followed by a decline in the period 1930-1938, and even dropped out of the Second Belgian Division, but managed to return after only two years.

Regular football matches during World War II were also impossible. At that time the club played in regional matches. And in the first season after the war, the team failed to avoid relegation, then even played in the third level of Belgian football, remaining there until 1956.

Eventually the club managed to return to the First Division, followed by new ups and downs. In the second decade of the 20th century, Cercle was experiencing financial difficulties, but found a potential partner in the AU of Monaco - a partner that could allow them to continue their existence. In 2018, Cercle became the champion of the Second Division and were promoted in the elite of Belgium.
