Cambuur Leeuwarden or simply Cambuur, is a football club from the Netherlands located in the city of Leeuwarden. It was formed on 19^th of June 1964. The club is currently playing in the Eredivisie, which is the top tier of Dutch professional football. They have earned this “privilege” after winning the title in the second tier in 2020/21. They play their home games at Cambuur Stadion, which is located in Leeuwarden and has a capacity of 10,500 seats. Cambuur plays in blue shorts and yellow shirts and are nicknamed “The Yellow-Blues SCC”. The coat of arms of the House of Cammingha is the club's emblem since their creation.

The club was founded in 1964 and has played seven seasons in Eredivisie. In the 1980s and 1990s, Cambuur was a regular challenger in the Eerste Divisie playoffs. The club won the Eerste Divisie title in 1992 and were promoted to the Eredivisie, but it does not lasted long and a relegation followed two seasons later in 1994. For years later in 1998, they were promoted again to the first timer, and again were relegated after just two seasons in the Eredivisie in 2000. The club had financial problems and was close to bankruptcy in 2005. The rebuilding of Cambuur Leeuwarden started in 2006 and since 2010, it is relatively stable financially.

The club almost won the playoff against Roda (Eredivisie side) in 2009, losing on penalties. The next year Cambuur came in second, again missing their chance for promotion. More than 41,000 fans watched those promotion/relegation games in just two weeks. Moore than 5 million fans in total watched the play-off matches between PEC Zwolle and Roda JC and Cambuur, on television the same year. Cambuur finally won the second tier in the 2012/13 season, awarding the club promotion to the Eredivisie for the 2013/14 season. On 1 May 2016, they were relegated to the Eerste Divisie after losing 6:2 away to PSV. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cambuur were denied promotion to the 2020/21 Eredivisie, despite being in first place of the 2019/20 Eerste Divisie.
