Nimes Olympic Football Club (or just Nimes) is a professional team from Nimes, France. It was founded in 1937 and hosts visiting teams of the Stade de Costieres. The club is nicknamed the "The crocodiles".

They were in 2nd place in Ligue 1 four times, but were unable to win it. Their greatest achievements are the 1st place in Ligue 2 and the two time champions in the Third Division. The club have finished second several times for the French Cup and the French Super Cup.

Famous players from the team are Eric Cantona, Rene Girard, Maurice Lafont, Christian Perez, Roger van Gool, Ivan Beck and others.

Nimes Sports Club was founded in 1901 and was initially only for young Protestants. However, the club ceased operations during the First World War, and after that there were several successful seasons before ending its professional activities in 1937 due to financial problems. But with the help of local businessmen, the team was reorganized into Nimes Olympic.

An interesting story about Nimes is related to one of its players - the notorious Eric Cantona. In December 1991, during a match for Nimes, Eric Cantona threw a ball at the referee, angry at one of his decisions. Cantona was summoned to a disciplinary hearing and sentenced to one month. His answer was to go to each member of the commission and call him an idiot. His removal was extended to two months, and Cantona subsequently announced his retirement from international football.

After the 1992/93 season, Nimes dropped out of Ligue 1, but eventually in 2018 managed to return to the highest level of French football.
