Spartak is a professional Russian football club from Moscow, playing in the RPL. Spartak needs no introduction - the most titled club in Russia, one of the most titled in the USSR (second only to Dynamo Kiev), a constant participant in European competitions. Red-and-white are wildly popular among fans, it is not for nothing that the team was nicknamed "The People's Team".

The history of Spartak dates back to 1922, when the ISS club was created. At the same time, their own red-and-white stadium was built, and the team was able to earn money by selling tickets.

From the very beginning, the Starostin brothers performed at the club - the founding fathers, one of whom will become the legend of Spartak.

In 1935, the team was thinking about a new name. During the club meeting, Nikolai Starostin saw on the shelf a book by Raffaello Giovagnoli - "Spartacus". The name of the club in honor of the legendary leader of the slave uprising was taken instantly, and it was also a symbol of communist rule. Immediately Starostin sketched out the club emblem - a red and white rhombus with the letter "C" and a crossed out emblem. In the beginning, the strip was directed the other way, until in 1949 it was turned to the right.

In 1966, Spartak won the USSR Cup and the next season started in the Cup Winners' Cup. In the first round, the red-whites passed the Yugoslav OFK (3:1, 3:1). However, they stumbled on the next opponent - Rapid was too tough (1:1, 0:1).

In any case, a start has been made. Since then, Spartak has been a regular participant in European competitions, rarely missing European tournaments.

The first union championship in 1936 consisted of two parts - Spring-Autumn. And if in the spring the Moscow Dynamo became the champion, then in the fall Spartak managed to move his implacable rival and win the first championship in history. Before the start of World War II, the red and white became champions and winners of the USSR Cup twice - in 1938 and 1939.

Note that Spartak won the first championship under the leadership of Mikhail Kozlov.

After the war, Spartak had a weak composition, and the team did not count on great successes. However, little by little, the red and white began to strengthen. The beginning of the revival of the former glory of Spartak was the arrival in 1949 of the striker Nikita Simonyan. He played at the club for ten years, becoming the top scorer in Spartak history. He has 133 goals in 213 matches.

During this time, the team won four championships. In 1959, Simonyan retired from his playing career and became a successful coach of the red and whites, leading Spartak twice more to the championship and entry into European competitions.

In the days of the USSR, at first, the most principled derby was against the Moscow Dynamo. In the first championships of the Soviet Union, it was Dynamo who were more successful. Once the legend of Spartak Nikolai Starostin killed a fly in the locker room and shouted: "Oooo, damned Dynamo!", Which once again confirms the tense relations between the rivals. In the 70s, Dynamo was no longer so formidable and the derby lost its edge, but with the creation of the RPL, it resumed again.
