Unione Sportiva Sassuolo Calcio is a football club from Italy, based in the city of Sassuolo, Emilia-Romagna region. It is known by the nickname "black and green" because of the colors of the team. It was founded in 1920 and hosts home games at the Chita del Tricolore Stadium.

In 1974 they reached Serie C2 for the first time, the lowest level of professional football in Italy, but were relegated to a lower league in 1990. In 2006, the team managed to reach Serie C1 when Sasovino's team was defeated in the playoffs. The next few years show that the club will be a serious contender for entry into the upper Serie B. In 2008 for the first time in its history managed to win Serie C1 and also for the first time qualified for Serie B. Later, in season 2012/13, managed to win Serie B, leading to the historic first Serie A standings. On August 25, 2013, they have played their first Serie A match against Torino, losing 2:0 as guests. The second match is against Livorno, when they scored their first goal in Serie A - scored by Simone Zaza. They won their first point in their fifth game against Napoli and won their first three points against Bologna on October 20, 2013.

In the 2014/15 season the team had a better performance in Serie A and finished in 12th place, and its top scorer was again Berardi, who scored 15 goals in the league.

In the 2015/16 season, the team improved again and finished in the first half of the table. In 2016 they have won their first qualification for the Europa League.
