Borussia Monchengladbach, sometimes called for short only Gladbach, is a professional football team from Germany and is one of the most successful and popular teams in the country, being the fourth largest team. The nicknames of the club are "starving" and "stallions". It was founded in 1900 and plays its home games at Borussia Park Stadium.

After its foundation, it began to progress steadily. In 1912 reached the final of the local league, but lost to FC Cologne. It merged with Tourfarain in 1919 and thus formed the Ferrain für Turn-und Rosensport Munich-Gladbach. Under this name, the team managed to win the final in the local league, but did not perform well in the national playoffs. Then changed its name several more times, adopting its current name in 1960. In 1965 they managed to win a place in the First Bundesliga. In the 2006-07 season, they dropped out of the Bundesliga, but were able to return back to it.

The 70s of the 20th century are the Golden Decade for the team. They won several German Cups, twice the UEFA Cup and other trophies.

Then the team had some financial problems and began selling players. In the 90's began to deteriorate sharply and in 1999 they were relegated to the Second Bundesliga, where they remained for two seasons. However, they managed to return to the Bundesliga, only to spend their "time" in the second half of the table.

The team is a five-time champion in the Bundesliga, an unofficial winner of the German Super Cup, a two-time winner of the UEFA Cup, and has reached the final of the 1977 International Cup and the 1976-77 European Cup.
