Southampton meet Chelsea in the 32nd round of the Premier League. Last weekend, the Saints recorded their fourth consecutive game without a win in the elite, ending in a draw 1: 1 with Leeds. Compared to what was shown by both teams, the result was natural. Southampton scored their only goal from a direct free kick, but this does not mean that they did not reach good goal positions from playing situations.

Chelsea suffered two consecutive home losses last week. First, the Blues were humiliated by 4: 1 by Brentford in the Premier League, and then lost 3: 1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League. In both games, Chelsea's defense made uncharacteristic individual mistakes, which ultimately decided the final outcome. Last season in April, Chelsea also suffered two consecutive losses at Stamford Bridge under the leadership of Thomas Tuchel.

Until the end of February, Southampton was one of the most solid hosts in the Premier League and suffered a loss only to Arsenal. However, the subsequent two defeats by Watford and Newcastle spoiled the impression of the Saints' performance. Although Ralph Hazenhuttle's alumni had their strengths in both games, the defensive mistakes eventually tipped the scales in favor of their opponents.

I expect an equal match on Saturday and I will not be surprised if Southampton get points from their more famous opponent. Earlier in the season, the Saints ended in a draw 1: 1 with Manchester City and 1: 1 with Tottenham at their "St. Mary's". It's hard to imagine Chelsea keeping a clean sheet on Saturday after conceding seven goals in their previous two games. So far this season, the Londoners have been successful in matches against rivals in the second half of the standings, but will most likely be hesitant after what was shown against Real Madrid and Brentford.
