Udinese Calcio is a football team that plays in the professional football league in Italy. It is based in the city of Udine, which is in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. They traditionally play in black and white striped T-shirts with black shorts. They host the visiting teams at "Stadium Friuli". Udinese are proud to be the second oldest team in the country, after Genoa. They are nicknamed "little zebras" and "Friulian white and black".

The team was founded in 1896, playing in the regional league until 1929, when it managed to enter Serie B. But it did not stay there long and dropped out. The club did not return to Serie B until 1939. For the first time in its history, it was promoted to Serie A in 1950. After five years, they even managed to reach second place, but due to irregularities were penalized with 9 points, and then dropped out again. They even dropped out to Serie C in 1964 and stayed there for 14 seasons. Then they reached Serie B again, and in 1979 re-entered Serie A.

After that, they constantly moved between Serie A and B. Did not achieve much success in Serie A, nor in European club football tournaments. They have been Serie B champions twice and are also Serie C three-time champions.

Won the Intertoto Cup in 2000. For the first time in its history, they were able to qualify for the Champions League in 2004/05. The club was eliminated in the round of 16 by the Bulgarian team Levski with 0:0 in Italy and 1:2 in Sofia of the UEFA Cup tournament.
