IK Start Football Club is based in Kristiansand (the 5th largest in Norway). The team was founded on September 19, 1905, but achieved greater success in the second half of the 20th century.

The main kit of the team is in yellow and black, used for both home and away games, but with an exchanged arrangement. The matches of IK Start are held at "Sor Arena", with a capacity of 14,563 seats. The stadium was opened in 2007 and except IK Start, it is also used by the youth teams of Norway and the women's team.

IK Start has won two titles from the Norwegian elite championship, won in the late 70's. In 1978, the "yellow-blacks" finished in first place with an asset of 33 points, and two years later again beat the competition, albeit with some luck. Start ends first, but with an identical point asset with the team of Brune.

In 2005, the team from Kristiansand finished second for the first time in the club's history. The list of achievements also includes six semifinals for the National Cup, 7 bronze medals from Elitserien and 4 trophies from the First Division (the second level of Norwegian football).

Start Kristiansand has several participations in European competitions, but only twice the team has passed the first qualifying round. He last competed in the UEFA Cup in 2007 when he lost to Ajax 2: 9.
