Unione Calcio Sampdoria (Football Union Sampdoria) is a football team from Genoa, Italy, which was founded in 1946 when Andrea Doria and Sampierdarenese merged. Welcomes visiting teams at Luigi Ferraris Stadium. They are known by the nicknames "la samp", "il doria" and "Blucerchiati".

They became champions of Italy in 1991. Four-time winners of Coppa Italia. Once won the KNK (Cup Winners' Cup).

After the unification of Andrea Doria and Sampierdarenese in 1946, the history of one of the most successful Italian clubs at the end of the 20th century began. The current colors of the team are formed by combining the colors of the two teams - the blue and white team of Andrea Doria - and the two stripes (red and black) of Sampierdarenese.

Multimillionaire Paolo Mantovani is often linked to the team's success as he turns it from a mediocre team into a European giant. In the late 80's the club reached the finals for KNK twice in a row, the first time losing to Barcelona and the second time winning it. In 1991 they have won teir first Scudetto. Took part in the mythical Champions League final in 1992 at Wembley, which is still remembered today. Then they lost to Barcelona after Ronald Koeman scored from a free kick in the 112th minute.

The future looks bright, but President Paolo Mantovani died of a heart attack in 1993. Shortly afterwards, Sampdoria is no longer the same and later even dropped out to Serie B, where they have remained for 4 years before returning to Serie A.
