Rayo Vallecano de Madrid team is a football club from Spain and, more precisely, from the capital Madrid. It was founded in 1924. It hosts their oponents at the Teresa Rivero Stadium in the capital.

The team first reached the Third Division in 1949. Rayo Vallecano is always in the shadow of the two biggest clubs in the city - Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid - and also swung a lot between the various leagues. Most of the 80s and 90s of the 20th century passed between La Liga and Segunda Division. Their most successful season was 2000/01, when they reached the quarterfinals of the UEFA Cup, which was lost to Alaves.

Difficult times soon began, dropping out to lower leagues in two consecutive seasons. In the 2006/07 season they finished second in the Second Division B, and the following season they managed to qualify for the Second Division. In the 2010/11 season, they managed to reach second place and return to La Liga after an eight-year absence.

In May 2016, they were eliminated again to Segunda Division, where their first season was quite bad. This leads to the completion of the 12th position. Three different managers took the charge in next season. Later they managed to return to the Primera Division.

It is interesting to note that Rayo Vallecano players often take part in charity - for example, captain Roberto Traschoras regularly helps at a homeless shelter.

And Rayo fans are known for their leftist views and often show political and protest messages against the commercialization of football. They often show anti-racist, anti-fascist and anti-homophobic messages.
