Washburn women's soccer falls to Point Loma in D-II national championship

The Washburn University women’s soccer team came so close to claiming their first national championship on Saturday, but the Ichabods fell to Point Loma 1-0 in a close, competitive battle.
The match was full of chances for both sides, yet the Sea Lions were the most clinical. Point Loma’s goal came in the 53rd minute off a corner kick. They delivered a cross towards the back post and Emma Thrapp headed it home to secure the team the victory.

This was the furthest that the Ichabods have ever achieved in the NCAA Division II National Tournament. Washburn’s season ends with a 24-4-1 record that has included many come from behind victories and individual achievements.
Washburn forward Khloe Schuckman and center back Jordan Tenpas were named All-Americans on Thursday. Tenpas was named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II’s All-American first-team. Schuckman earned third-team honors.
