Sassuolo - Milan: prediction "2"

Milan are off to a good start in defending their rear, which continues on Monday with a visit to Sassuolo. The previous one was in the last round of last campaign, when the Rossoneri made no mistake and won with a classic 3-0 to lift their first title in eleven years. It was also Milan's sixth consecutive win at the Mapei Stadium, but I must point out that the Green and Black have in turn won their last two visits to the San Siro.

Sassuolo didn't start their campaign very well, but considering the schedule they are doing decently. The first home game of the season was against Lecce, and the meeting was a must-win. It came to this after a surprising match with few goals and only 1:0 with a goal by Berardi. The loss to Juventus in the first round was expected, but 0:3 was harder than it deserved, given that Sassuolo was also the team with more accurate and inaccurate shots in the match.

In the first two rounds, Milan achieved a program minimum. The meeting with Udinese did not start well, when the "Zebras" took the lead in the second minute, but the answer was instant for 2:1. In the end, the Rossoneri won 4:2. Milan was the more active team in the second round as well, when they visited Atalanta. The home team then took the lead, but the champions mounted pressure that led to a 1-1 final.

In the last round, Milan made their first excellent defensive performance. Bologna arrived in Milan and did not even make a proper shot in the match. With first goals from last season's top scorers, Leao and Giroud, Milan won 2-0. Sassuolo reminded of his crazy and productive meetings. The "green and black" took the lead as a guest of Spezia, but fell behind in the result at the break. The Bulgarian international Petko Hristov was forced to leave the field during the break. This led to a mix-up in the Spezia defense and a killer second half for Sassuolo, but it was only enough for a 2-2 draw.

For two seasons in a row, AC Milan finished as the best away team in Serie A, while losses to Sassuolo last campaign at home prevailed and the goal difference was negative. The champions are undoubtedly favorites for the three points today and I expect them to continue their excellent run at this stadium. In all six of the Rossoneri's successive wins here, they've had a lead at the break, with four of those matches not even scoring in the second half.
