Club Deportivo Leganes is a Spanish team from the professional football league of Spain from Leganes, near Madrid. It was founded in 1928 and plays home games at the Estadio Municipal de Butark.

For most of his existence, Leganes has played in lower leagues. In 1977 reached the fourth division, and then began to progress steadily and reached the third division in 1987. Six years later they were promoted to the Segunda Division, where they maintained their status for 11 seasons. For the first time in its history, they were promoted to La Liga in the 2015/16 season and confirmed it with its 1:0 victory as a guest of KD Mirandes. Qualified for the Copa del Rey semi-finals for the first time on January 24, 2018, eliminating Real Madrid in the quarterfinals with a 2-1 victory at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Since its inception, they have played 19 seasons in the Third Division, 16 seasons in the Segunda Division B, 13 seasons in the Segunda Division and 3 seasons in La Liga. They became winners in the Third Division and Segunda Division B.

As hosts they wear blue & white shirt and wihte shorts. Their away kit is a white T-shirt with green and red ribbons, as well as similar shorts. The nickname of the club is "Los Pepineros". Their biggest rivalry is with Getafe, as both teams play the famous Derby in South Madrid. Fans of the team have friendly relations with the ardent Gate 12 supporter group of Egaleo FC, and the cities of Egaleo and Leganes are twin cities.
