Lecce is a football club based in Lecce, Puglia. It was established on March 17, 1908, initially playing with black and white kit, which earned them the nickname "Bianconeri". In the recent history of the team, this has changed and Lecce is playing with red and yellow shirts and blue shorts.

Lecce's home matches are held at the 32,000-seat Via del Mare Stadium. It opened on September 11, 1966 with a friendly match between the local team and the guests from Spartak Moscow. Its last reconstruction was in 1985, and five years later it hosted World Cup matches.
In the middle of the last century, Lecce spent 17 years in the third level of Italian football (Seria C). In the 80's and 90's the team was in a serious rise, inextricably linked with the first two echelons. Promotions in Serie A and unpleasant relegations followed, but in general Lecce kept the status as a middle-class team, which may surprise the big ones.

Lecce has no significant trophies in its club showcase. Nine times won their place to play in the top division (for the last 2018/2019), has four titles in Serie C, Cup of Serie C in 1976, and the Anglo-Italian Semi-Professional Cup in 1977. Despite the meager number of awards , legendary figures such as Juan Cuardado, Antonio Conte, Franco Causio, Javier Chevanton and others have passed through the club.

The player with the most games for the Lecce is Michele Loruzo, who recorded 418 matches with the "The Crusaders" team. Anselmo Bislengi is the all-time top scorer of the club with 87 goals, and in the modern history of Lecce this achievement is held by the Uruguayan striker Javier Chevanton (54).

The Bulgarian striker Valeri Bozhinov sets a historical record with the team of the "yellow-blues". He is the youngest player to make his debut in the Italian Serie A. This happened in early 2002, when he was only 15 years old. The record set by Bozhinov remains unsurpassed to this day.
