Getafe Football Club is a professional team from Spain and, more precisely, from the Getafe suburb of Madrid. It was established in 1983 and plays its home matches at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez. The club reached twice reached the Copa del Rey final, was a quarterfinalist for the UEFA Cup and became a champion in the Segunda Division.

Getafe as a football club was founded in 1945, officially opened in 1946. Played in the Segunda Division for six seasons. It was disbanded some time later due to unpaid salaries of the players. In 1976, a new team was formed called Peña Madridista Getafe, which later became Club Deportivo Peña Getafe. Then merged with Club Getafe Promesas in 1982 and this led to the official founding of the current FC Getafe in 1983.

Playing in La Liga since 2004, with the first season starting badly at the bottom of the table, but climbing to 13th place, avoiding relegation to the Segunda Division. The following season, they were briefly at the top of the table, but later finished in 9th place. In 2006-07 they finished 9th again, but managed to reach the final of the Copa del Rey, which they lost to Sevilla. Later they reached the final for the Copa del Rey again, but lost 3:1 to Valencia. In the 2015-16 season, FC Getafe was relegated to the Segunda Division after 12 years in the Primera Division. But the following season, they immediately promoted back to La Liga. And in the 2017/18 season they finished in 8th place in the ranking in La Liga.
