Tromso Idrettslag, also known as Tromso or by the nickname "The Boys", is a professional football team from the Norwegian city of Tromso. It was founded in 1920. The club plays their home games at Alfheim Arena, which has a capacity of 6687 people.

The best achievement in Elitserien was second place in 1990 and in 2011. Three seasons Tromso finished third in the final standings. It is a two-time winner of the Norwegian Cup and once again (in 2012) reached the final for the same tournament. It is a three-time winner of the Northern Norway Championship.

The club has competed in European tournaments. First entered the European scene in 1987/88 in the first round of the KNK, but immediately dropped out of St. Mirren with a total score of 0:1.

In 2005/06 they have made their most successful UEFA Cup performance, beating Esbjerg 3:2 in the second qualifying round. In the first round faced Galatasaray and defeated them with overall result - 2:1. They were along with Roma, Strasbourg, Red Star Belgrade and Basel in Group E. Finished in fifth, last place.

The best result in the Europa League is reaching the group stage in 2013/14. Then in the first qualifying round it defeated Celje with a total of 3:2 after one victory and one loss. In the second qualifying round met Inter Baku and again achieved one victory and one loss to continue forward with a total result - 2:1. In the third qualifying round faced Differdange 03 and won 4:2. Reached the playoffs, where they have lost to Besiktas, but the Turkish team was disqualified and Tromso reached the group stage, entering Group K, along with Tottenham Hotspur, Anji Makhachkala and Sheriff Tiraspol. Earning just one point, Tromso remains in fourth place.
