Sheffield United is a professional football club from Sheffield, South Yorkshire. It was founded in 1889 by the local cricket club. They have been playing his home games at Bramal Lane since the year it was founded, and it is the stadium with the largest capacity in the 19th century (32.125 by 2019). Sheffield United's nickname is "blades" due to the city's steel production. The home kit of the team have red and white stripes, black shorts and red socks, while the guest kit is in white with red edging.

Before a full decade had passed since its founding, Sheffield United won its first and only championship. The significant event took place in the 1897/1898 season, when the Football League was still with 16 teams. In its 130-year history, the club has won 4 FA Cups - in 1899, 1902, 1915 and 1925. Only once they have won the second tier of English football (1952-1953). The last time this happened was during the 2018/2019 championship campaign.

The "blades" have not played in European competitions till now, but have some remarkable achievements on the local stage. The biggest victory came on December 10, 1892, when they beat Port Vale 10:0. The largest number of home victories was recorded in 2016/2017, when the team struggled in the third level of the english football - won 17 matches in a row at home.

The record for most appearances for the club is held by Joe Shaw (631), who wore the "red and white" shirt in the period 1948 - 1966. The top goalscorer of all time is Harry Johnson (201 goals). The youngest newcomer to Sheffield United is Louis Reed, who played his first game at 16 years and 257 days, while the oldest is Jimmy Hagan at 39 years and 236 days. On August 2, 2019, the highest amount was paid for an incoming transfer from the "blades", which acquired the services of Oliver McBurney for 17 million pounds. The highest profit came in the summer of 2018, when they received 11 million from Bournemouth for David Brooks.
