NAC Breda (also called only NAC) is a professional football club from Breda, the Netherlands. It was founded in 1912 and is a longtime player in the highest football league in the Netherlands, the Eredivisie. They play at the Rat Verlegh Stadium, which has a capacity of 19,000 people. The club is nicknamed "The Pearl of the South", "The rats" and " The yellow army".

NAC once became champion of the First Division (Eerste Divisie) and once - of the Eredivisie. It has won the Dutch Cup (KNVB Cup) in 1973.

It was founded by merging two teams - ADVENDO and NOAD. At first the club was not allowed to play football in the leagues of the Royal Football Association, but eventually in 1912 they were eligible to play in the Second Southern Division.

The first years after the creation of the team were not good at all, but things gradually improved. In 1921 is one of their best achievements when they have became champion of Dutch football. In the 20s and 30s it was among the best teams in the country.

After the Second World War, NAC Breda NAC played in the highest level of the Dutch football. In 1954, professional football was introduced in the Netherlands and new championships were created, as the NAC entered the 1A League and became its champion in 1955.

But the early 60's were not so glamorous for the club. In the 1964/65 season, they even dropped out for the first time in their history. The following season, however, the club returned and even managed to play in several European championships.

Subsequently, significant financial problems followed, and in March 2011 it even appeared that the NAC had debts of 7.1 million euros.

For a few seasons, NAC struggled not to stay at the bottom of the table, but after the 2014/15 season it lost the playoff final for promotion / relegation and was relegated to Eerste Divisie after 15 consecutive seasons in the elite. Iin 2017, again through the playoffs, they have managed to return to the Eredivisie.
