The Florentine Football Association Fiorentina (Asochacione Calcio Firenze Fiorentina), known as ACF Fiorentina, is an Italian football team based in Florence, Tuscany. In the beginning it was in official colors red and white, which in 1928 were changed to purple and white, hence the team's nickname "purple". It was founded in 1926 and accepts the visiting teams at the Artemio Franci Stadium.
Two-time champion of Italy, a six-time winner of the Italian Cup (also four time finalist, but couldn't win), four times finalist for the Champions League, once reached the final for the KNK, and once played in the UEFA Cup final. The club is a one-time carrier of KNK. Two Bulgarian football players played in the team - Valeri Bozhinov (2005-2007) and Petko Hristov (2017-).
The team was created after the merger of two other teams and was named FC Club Libertas Fiorenze, winning its first trophy in the 1939/40 season (Italian Cup). In 1955/56 they have won the Scudetto for the first time. The team have won their first European trophy in 1960/61 - the KNK. After 1975, until the end of the 90's the club had serious problems, and in the 1993/94 they were relegated to Serie B. Later they managed to return to Serie A.
In 2001, the financial situation in the club began to deteriorate and the team was relegated to Serie B. Shortly after the relegation, it declared bankruptcy and was closed.
In 2002, Fiorentina 1926 Florence was founded, which was later renamed Florence Viola, and then ACF Fiorentina. In the following years began to climb steadily and finally returning to Serie A.
