Empoli is a professional football team from the city with the same name in Tuscany, Italy. It was founded in 1920 and is nicknamed the "blues". Accepts the visiting teams of "Carlo Castellani Stadium". The club has played in 83 national championships, including 50 in the third tier of Italian football, 20 in Serie B and 13 in Serie A. Their best results in Europe are in the 2007/08 UEFA Cup.

In August 1920, the Empoli Football Club and the Empoli Sports Union section were established. After playing in a tournament in San Miniato, the two merged into a single local football club. They played in regional divisions and then in Serie C. Changed their name several times, but stopped at Empoli Football Club after World War II. They were promoted to Serie B and played there for four consecutive seasons. After that were relegated to Serie C, and then in Serie D.

In 1986, however, they managed to enter Serie A. But immediately after that dropped out to Serie B and then into Serie C1. Then again a few promotions and relegations, and in 2005 again started playing in Serie A. As a result of the scandal with fixed matches in Serie A, other teams were punished and Empoli won a place in the UEFA Cup, but failed to apply for a UEFA license and did not participate.

They later played in Serie B again and finished 18th in 2011-12. Over the next season, they dramatically improved and finished on 4th. In the 2013/14 season they were promoted to Serie A. New failures followed, relegation to Serie B and a new finish in the top football division in Italy.
