Deportivo Alaves - detailed statistics and predictions for the upcoming matches
Deportivo Alaves , also known as Alaves, is a Spanish football team from the city of Vitoria, Basque Autonomous Region. The club plays their games in Mendisorosa stadium. It was founded in 1921 and is nicknamed the "white-blue" because of its white-blue vertically striped T-shirts and blue shorts, with which they play in their home meetings. Won the Copa Federation, was a three-time champion in Segunda Division and was a finalist for the UEFA Cup.
Alaves was the first team to win a transfer from Segunda Division to La Liga in the 1923-30 season. But then they dropped out, descended to the fourth level in Spanish football, and began to climb again. After 42 years finally returned to La Liga winning the Segunda Division in the 1997-98 season.
In the 2000/01 season, they reached the final of the UEFA Cup, but lost it 4:5 against Liverpool - this is their biggest success, which they achieved in the year of their debut in the European tournaments.
After 2002/03 they were relegated to a lower league, but two years later returned to the La Liga. Then Alaves returned to Segunda Division and, subsequently, Segunda Division B. However, they were later transferred back to Segunda Division in 2013, and in 2016 moved back to La Liga. In 2016, for the first time in its history, the team qualified for Copa del Rey final, but lost to Barcelona.
Deportivo Alaves is the third most successful team in the Basque Autonomous Community after Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad.
