Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio is a professional football team from Lombardy, Italy, which was founded in Bergamo in 1907. Holds home games at Athletics Azuri d’Italia. It is known by the nicknames "bergamas" and "black and blue". It has 6 Serie B titles and also won one Coppa Italia trophy.

In 1904, another football club was founded in Bergamo, Lombardy, and Atalanta Calcio was founded in 1907. The current team was created after combining several sports organizations from the city and its name comes from Greek mythology.

Approved by the Italian Football Association in 1914 and first competed in Serie A in 1937, but quickly was relegated. Then, after 3 years, climbed again to the top level of Italian football, where they remained until 1959, when dropped out to Serie B. The best ranking through the years was the 5th place in 1948. Dropped out of Serie C in 1981 to return to Serie A four years later.

Atalanta is currnetly a team that is fighting for the top positions. They have relatively few European achievements. Won Coppa Italia in 1963, was a semi-finalist in the Cup Winners' Cup in 1988, and a quarterfinalist for the UEFA Cup in 1991. In 2016/17 they have finished in 4th place and thus won them a place in the Europa League, as this is their first participation in European tournaments in 26 years.

Players like Christian Vieri, Roberto Donadoni, Filippo Inzaghi and others have become famous and started their careers in Atalanta.
